Published on 14 Jan 2021On 13 January 2021, the Conservative Party Human Rights Commission launched its new report on China, titled “The Darkness Deepens: The Crackdown on Human Rights in China 2016-2020” (available on the Commission’s website here: https://conservativepartyhumanrightsc…) at an online event chaired by The Baroness Hodgson of Abinger and addressed by the former Leader of the Conservative Party Sir Iain Duncan Smith MP, exiled Hong Kong democracy activist Nathan Law, Uyghur campaigner Rahima Mahmut, Simon Cheng, a former British Consulate employee in Hong Kong who was arrested, jailed and tortured in China, Dr Teng Biao, a Chinese human rights lawyer and academic, and Benedict Rogers, co-founder and Deputy Chair of the Conservative Party Human Rights Commission.
